This remake of "Total Recall" does admittedly have certain things going for it, even while ignoring the mind games even more than the original.(For the record, I accept everything I see on screen at face value unless there are penguins involved.) That involves some inventive world building, a social consciousness & relevance, white knuckle moments and a very good performance from Colin Farrell. But then everything goes sideways and filled with bullets. After conflicting reviews, he chooses it of the virtual kind in Rekall, what with his wife Lori(Kate Beckinsale) also having to work long hours. Now, he has to work double shifts due to Chancellor Cohaagen's(Bryan Cranston) ramping up his own personal war on terror and is denied a promotion through no fault of his own. In "Total Recall," Douglas Quaid(Colin Farrell) has not been having a good time of it lately that goes beyond his lousy factory job and hovel of a home in the Colony. Although the movie is not perfect it has some issues, these being the first 20 minutes being slow, unentertaining music and cinematography issues. If you are a person who enjoyed the 1990 thrill ride known as "Total Recall" then I recommend you watch 2012's "Total Recall" as it has superb acting, entertaining scenes and an okay plot. Throughout the movie it isn't as bad as the first sequence. The biggest issue with this movie is the cinematography the first action-sequence is filmed horribly and after 2 minutes is a challenge to watch.
"Harry Gregson-Williams" gives film score was at times doesn't make scenes feel adrenaline pumping or exciting. "Colin Farrell" gives the audience a dramatic and a thrilling performance as "Quaid", he may not do as good of a job as "Arnold Schwarzenegger" back in 1990 but he still gives a superb performance. The movie's climax was entertaining to watch but didn't give the audience an overall satisfaction. These scenes are great to watch but at points the movie becomes hard to understand which shouldn't happen. Throughout the most of the movie it shows "Quaid" psychologically processing what is happening while also fighting people off. The scene is entertaining to watch but other than that the first 20 minutes of the film are slow and boring to watch. The movie opens as the 1990 film did by "Quiad" having one of his nightmares also known as memories. Later on an error occurs and all hell breaks loose. The plot to "Total Recall" is that a man named "Doug Quaid" portrayed by "Collin Farrell" feels bored with his life and goes to a company named "Rekall" which is a virtual reality that makes a fantasy seem real. The line between fantasy and reality gets blurred and the fate of his world hangs in the balance as Quaid discovers his true identity, his true love, and his true fate."Total Recall" is another one of Hollywood's unnecessary remakes of a 1990's action movie. Finding himself on the run from the police - controlled by Chancellor Cohaagen (Bryan Cranston) - there is no one Quaid can trust, except possibly a rebel fighter (Jessica Biel) working for the head of the underground resistance (Bill Nighy). But when the procedure goes horribly wrong, Quaid becomes a hunted man. For a factory worker named Douglas Quaid (Colin Farrell), even though he's got a beautiful wife (Kate Beckinsale) whom he loves, the mind-trip sounds like the perfect vacation from his frustrating life - real memories of life as a super-spy might be just what he needs.
